Gift Highlights

Washington Research Foundation’s gift program assists research, education and recruitment efforts throughout the state.

Summary:

  • More than $60 million in total gifts
  • Over $3.7 million given for recruitment and retention
  • 74 WRF commercialization gifts, totaling $2.7 million in direct gifts
  • More than 300 individual gifts to the UW
  • Contributed to more than 100 endowments for chairs, professorships, research fellowships and graduate stipends
  • 95 ARCS graduate fellowships
  • 102 undergraduate fellowships

WRF was a founding partner of the UW’s Creating Futures campaign, which raised over $2.5 billion to help maintain UW's standing among the world's premier research insitutions..

In addition, WRF backs “gap” funding programs that target research and technologies with strong commercial potential at organizations including the University of Washington, Fred Hutch, Washington State University, Benaroya Research Institute, PNDRI and Bloodworks Northwest.

WRF continues to provide assistance for university-level enterprises such as the UW Center for Commercialization’s Entrepreneurs-in-Residence program, which partners researchers with experienced entrepreneurs and business executives to help potentially marketable technologies reach startup stage.
